The Sacred Family by Raffaello Sanzio

In 1514 when Raffaello painted the Madonna with Baby Jesus, St. Elizabeth with St. John and in the background was also St. Joseph, he gave this title to the painting “La Sacra Famiglia” (The Sacred Family).

It was commissioned to Raffaello by the Senor Leonello Pio Da Carpi and it was inherited by his nephew Cardinal Rodolfo Pio Da Carpi. When he died in 1564 and not having family, he left all of his possessions to his relative Falco Pio Di Savoia family.

What happened after that?
